Autograph Saddam Hussein Forbids Uday from Awarding the Iraq Military Officers

1986 Autograph Handwritten Document by Saddam Hussien Ordered Uday not award the military officers.

On October 17, 1986 Saddam Hussein wrote on Desk Memo in Red Ink:

My son Uday (may God protect him),

I was informed today of your honoring of some heroic officers from the valiant Iraqi army… While these brave men certainly deserve such honors, it is not permissible to do so without our knowledge, or without the knowledge of the Minister of Defense and the General Command of the Armed Forces. This constitutes a violation of the constitution and our authority… We are not far from you or unaware of your actions. You should have contacted me or the Minister of Defense. Therefore, we have issued a directive from the Presidency to punish anyone who exceeds these constitutionally granted powers. I know that your action was well-intentioned and intended to reward our heroic soldiers, and I know this will be the last time…

لكن لايجوز دون علمنا او دون علم وزير الدفاع و القيادة العامة للقوات المسلحة و يعتبر تجاوزا على الدستور و الصلاحيات … نحن لسنا بعيدين عنك أو غائبين عنك كان المفترض بك الاتصال بي او بوزير الدفاع .. فعليه اصدرنا تعميما عن رياسة الجمهورية بمعاقبة كل من يتجاوز هذة الصلاحيات الممنوحة بموجب الدستور و اني اعلم ان تصرفك هذا كان بحسن نية و لمكافأة جنودنا الأبطال و اني اعلم انها المرة الأخيرة…
